A small Manchester firm with a simple promise: turn up when we say.
Northbridge Plumbing & Heating was started in 2009 by Dave Northbridge, ex-British Gas, after one too many customers told him they couldn’t get a straight answer out of his employer. Sixteen years on, we’re still small — three vans, six engineers, one office — because we’d rather know our customers than chase the next postcode.

How we got here
16 years, one philosophy.
We’ve grown slowly on purpose. No franchises, no algorithm dispatch, no script. Just three vans — and Dave still does every survey for jobs over £1,500.
- 2003
Dave qualifies as a gas engineer through the British Gas apprenticeship scheme in Hyde.
- 2009
Dave packs in the day job and starts Northbridge from his Cheetham Hill garage with one van and a flask.
- 2014
Brother-in-law Mick joins, second van on the road. We move into a proper unit on Bridgewater Yard.
- 2018
Awarded Which? Trusted Trader status. Lauren joins to run bookings and stop the chaos in the office.
- 2021
Become Worcester Accredited installers. Care Plans launched after dozens of customers asked.
- 2024
Three vans, six engineers, and 412 five-star reviews. Still small enough that Dave does most surveys himself.
